‘Moorn Barndi’ Hardey Park

By Kylie Graham and Peter Farmer Junior

We worked closely with Peter Farmer Jnr and Kylie Graham to create a sculpture that represents the seasons of the Noongar people of WA. The sculpture kept an earthy feel by using corten combined with the best possible material for outdoor full colour images – vitreous enamel. When walking towards the fish on the footpath it looks like two metal objects about 1.5 metres apart. As the footpath meanders around the sculpture the two separate fish halves they look as though they join together, giving a perfectly framed view of Perth CBD.

Just in front of the sculpture is a premium cast bronze plaque providing information regarding the Noongar seasons and what they symbolise. The fish is a black bream, which commonly jumps out of the water.
