In mid 2019 we were contacted by Humphrey Homes. They were investigating options for an artistic entry way to a property they were renovating and extending in Mosman Park.
Humphrey Homes’ initial concept was to recreate an old photograph of the house using a punch print technique. Our advice to them was that its placement on the side wall of the garage would render the punch printing somewhat void. This is because the technique calls for sufficient backlighting which would not be available. Punch printing would also fail to recreate the detail in the original photo.
Our solution was to suggest that the photograph be laser etched into anodised aluminium in a series of panels. This allowed for the photo to be reproduced in impressive detail and to the correct scale.
Despite the natural variations which can occur in the anodising dependent upon the condition of the aluminium sheet, the final effect is a stunning entrance to the home.
