Overview
Carol Stevens was approached to design two curved commemorative benches to be placed next to the Swan River on the Attadale Foreshore in the City of Melville.
The benches were fabricated by Artforms WA from marine grade stainless steel with merbau sets. The rear panels are made from anodised aluminium.
Carol Stevens’ artworks are laser etched into the rear panels. The artworks feature Australian shelducks, rainbow bee eaters and native vegetation local to the area.
The benches are installed on a concrete pad. They are accompanied by a reverse etched granite leaf bearing a line of poetry which has been set into the concrete. The granite leaf was fabricated by Artforms WA.
The benches were designed to be beautiful and yet robust, durable and low maintenance.
They were delivered and installed by Artforms WA.
At least ten other small local businesses were collaborated with in the creation of these benches.
