Overview
Tania Spencer was commissioned by the Town of Claremont to design and create a 2D artwork for the wall of their council offices in Bay View Terrace, Claremont.
Tania’s 2D designs incorporating crocheted aluminium wire.
Tania asked Artforms WA to amend her designs for fabrication on a large scale. Artforms sourced materials and fabricated the building and tree outline frameworks to incorporate the wire crochet. We delivered and installed the seven artwork sections.
Working closely with Tania, we re-drew her initial drawings for the creation of full-sized fabrication plans.
The seven panel frameworks were fabricated from cut, shaped and welded aluminium solid bar. Artforms also provided cutting files for design elements which were to be laser cut, such as the war memorial finals, cars, small tree and spire with weather vane.
The individual panels were welded, finished and drilled for installation. Tania worked on the panels in our workshop to attach the crocheted wire. The panels were then delivered to the anodiser.
The finished, anodised sections were delivered to site and installed on the council wall.
Artforms WA supported at least five other small WA businesses in the fabrication, delivery and installation of these artworks.
